There’s Only One Right Way to Start a Business
These steps reduce the risk of startup failure by 90%

Everyone has opinions, but not everyone has data. This is never more true than when someone is trying to start a business – people will be coming out of the woodwork with unsolicited advice and irrelevant examples. But this is NOT the time to give everyone’s opinion equal weight, no matter how well-intentioned it might be, especially if you’re a first time entrepreneur. Because until you yourself have been through the startup process a few times it’s really, really hard to tell good advice from bad advice. But one thing is absolutely, inarguably true: there really is only one right way to start a business. You have to learn absolutely everything you can about… READ MORE
Want the tools and resources YOU need to take the First Step with your business, all for free, with no obligation?
No strings attached – it’s really all free!
What exactly is the Startup Business Workshop?
We work with entrepreneurs who are on the verge of starting new businesses to help them avoid all of the early mistakes that cause most such ventures to eventually fail. With over 30 years of experience working with startups, led both by first-time business owners and by multinational companies, we offer a proven approach that can help anyone increase their chances of success.
What exactly do you do?
We offer a completely free “First Step” program in a hybrid learning format that combines a two-hour live seminar to kick things off and a full set of online resources, including a comprehensive workbook, video lectures, and other valuable tools and resources. Participants in this program also get a free 30-minute call with an instructor to answer specific questions about their business after they have completed all of the “First Step” materials. Steps Two through Five are offered for those who need them, although there is no obligation to register for any of our paid courses, no constant emails or calls, and absolutely no attempt to upsell anyone at any time. We sell nothing whatsoever during our “First Step” seminar.
How do I know if this is right for me?
Well, to be perfectly honest, most new entrepreneurs don’t really know if they have a viable business idea yet, or if they have all of the personal attributes and skills necessary to successfully launch a business. That’s what we cover in the “First Step” program, and that’s why it’s free for everyone. This is your chance to find out what’s right for you!
Do I need to have it all figured out first?
Not at all. Most of our participants are still somewhere in the messy middle. We figure it out together — that’s the point of working with the Startup Business Workshop team!
What’s the first step?
Take a look at our upcoming “First Step” seminars in a city near you. Register to attend – it’s free! And everyone is free to bring a guest so you have someone to help you process everything covered in the seminar and help you figure out if our program is a good choice for what you’re trying to accomplish.
Five Steps. One Community.
First Step: WHO
Assess yourself and your market, so you know exactly who you are and exactly who your customers are going to be – because EVERY decision you make from this point forward MUST be centered entirely on what your customers want and prefer.
Second Step: WHAT
Our Second Step program shows you how to build a portfolio of products and services with a clear understanding of all your costs, so you can accurately project your profitability. We also walk you through the most critical elements of your competitive strategy so you’ll be confident that you can reach customers and sell reliably in your chosen market.
Third Step: HOW
The Third Step is a deep dive into how to assemble your team and your business partners, how to create a sustainable operating model for your business, and how to accurately estimate what your total funding requirements will be to get it all up and running – and where you can find the money!
Fourth Step: WHY
Our Fourth Step course is all about the why: why customers pay attention to you, why they end up preferring to do business with you instead of your competitors, and why they’re willing to pay a fair price for what you offer.
Fifth Step: WHEN
The Fifth Step is all about how to hold yourself accountable as an entrepreneur. You’ll learn how to create realistic timelines for getting your business launched and how to set and track the performance milestones that will keep your business on track.
Our Online Community
Entrepreneurship can be a very lonely pursuit and the best way to keep your energy high and your efforts focused is through meaningful communication and collaboration with others on the same path. Through our online community you’ll get ongoing support from our instructional team and supportive networking with your classmates and peers.
Real Success Starts With Trust
Not trust in others. Trust in yourself.
And nothing gives you the confidence to make good decisions and take smart risks than solid information from people who know what they’re talking about. As a new business owner, you’re going to be swamped with “experts” offering to help you (meaning sell you) every product and service under the sun. Their biggest weapon is your uncertainty about what you need and what you might be missing out on. That’s why we give you everything you need for your First Step for free. No matter what, you’ll finish that program with a clear understanding of your own readiness for entrepreneurship and more importantly, you’ll have a clear picture of who your target customers are, what they really want, and what they’re willing to pay for it. Information really is power, and this is the foundation of your trust in yourself going forward with your new business.

Are you ready to take the first step toward finally launching your own business?
We’ll help you validate your business idea, help you pivot if necessary, and help you better understand your own strengths, weaknesses, and readiness to start a business – all for free, and all before you jump into anything.
